EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO BAUSCH + LOMB STORZ® OPHTHALMIC INSTRUMENTS MANUFACTURING PLANT

Following the commitment to deliver high quality ophthalmic products globally, Bausch + Lomb organized a guided visit to its manufacturing site for ophthalmic instruments on October 9th and 10th in Heidelberg, Germany.

On this occasion, 9 visitors from UK were welcomed at the Bausch + Lomb Storz® Plant and had the opportunity to discover the history and the products developed and manufactured in the site. Storz® Ophthalmic Instruments produced in the Plant represents a wide range of surgical products, including a wide range of microsurgical instruments for cataract, retinal, refractive and corneal surgery.

Not only the visitors discovered the history behind the Plant and the products, but also participated in an interactive instrumentation workshop focused on Vitreoretinal Surgery Instruments, the process of R&D and the new products pipeline.

As part of the activities designed for the visit, a Tour through the site was conducted in 2 groups: Single use and reusable production, quality control and technology, and the depot service.

The afternoon of the 2nd day included a lecture with Mr. Aman Chandra, consultant Ophthalmologist at Southend University Hospital, on the last findings on the Stellaris EliteTM with Bi-blade® vitrectomy cutter.

To conclude the two-day visit to Bausch + Lomb Storz Manufacturing Plant, Bausch + Lomb Team presented an update for the VitesseTM Hypersonic Vitrectomy System for vitreous removal, to the guests prior to farewell.
